This small hotel was perfect for my needs while visiting my daughter who lives in the French Concession a few blocks away. Although the rooms are small, it was clean and friendly and in a great location for walking the great neighborhoods of the area. At least a dozen dining options within a couple of blocks and ones that I tried were great, along with […] a Wagas next door and an Element Fresh a half block away. Every morning I walked for 2-3 hours in a different direction, seeing many embassies and consulates, schools, shops and great restaurants. Absolutly stay here again. No wifi in the rooms but good lobby reception and great free connections everywhere in China. Les mer

2 parts to the hotel. I stayed in the normal - non five star hotel. Right in the middle of the French concession. Great for touring Shanghai. Loads of western restaurants within walking distance. Jenny's bar next door is great. There's also a japanese noodle shop open til 3:00 am. Do take the address in Chinese because the taxi drivers don't know postal […] codes. Also get a cab from the official rank at Shanghai airport, non licenced taxis way overcharge. Cost me 220 from the airport to get there. Les mer

Excellent location, clean and secure. Front desk officers all speak good English and were very helpful. Bedroom/bathroom were very clean, and the bed was firm, but not hard (by Chinese standards). Would definitely stay again.

Stayed there from Christmas thru the New Year. (12/25/2011-1/2/2012). Great location, good service and clean room. This hotel is one of several Donghu hotels on this street with the same name Donghu road. This Guest House hotel shared a Japanese restaurant in the same lobby. My room was located on the top floor, 7th floor and facing the back alley. […] Quiet for the most of time, a few early mornings, I can clearly hear radio around 5:30am, no big deal after closing the window. The room is small but it has all the amenities, very comfortable for one person. Wired internet, hair dryer, dorm refrigerator, cable TV & HBO. The room always very warm, I couldn't get the AC to switch to cooler air, it is a bit warm for me, so I had open the window most of the night. This hotel is located in the middle of Donghu road, 5 minutes walk to Line 10 & Line 1 subway station. There are several Japanese restaurants and small western style bars on the streets. Near Line 10 station, it is one of the city's popular shopping districts. I didn't get bored stay there! If you are plan to stay there, I would recommend book through Hotels.com first, the local rates is at least 50% higher. Les mer

This hotel was ok. I found the room very dark. I also found the hotel very noisy. There is constant restaurant style jazzy music blasting so I had to keep the aircon on to drown it out. The chambermaids also make a racket banging doors and speaking loudly in the halls. I wouldn't stay here again, though it wasn't awful. Location and cost were very  […] good. Les mer

French Concession of Shanghai is my favorite area of the city. This hotel is right in the thick of it and the price is not too high. The rooms are a little small (I had a single queen bed) but comfortable enough. The bathrooms could be better equipped but, again, adequate. It's the neighborhood/price ratio that gets me here.

I felt the Donghu was a great buy for the money. It is in a good location, convenient to everything, and economical, too. There was little in regard to the decorations but a good basic room. It had a few little extras that can be helpful like an umbrella to use. This is helpful in the season I visited. Overall for me and my purpose, I give the Donghu […] Hotel an A rating. Les mer

Although the rooms could do with a coat of paint, they are comfortable and the bathrooms are sparkling clean. I had a room that faced away from Donghu Lu and so it was amazingly quiet. The cleaning staff were quite unobtrusive and did their job while I was out. The front desk staff speak passable English and are quite helpful if not overly friendly […] and check in and out was quick and efficient. The location (for me) is superb. It is right in the centre of the French Concession with access to a range of restaurants, bars, spas and shops. Not too far from the subway, but the taxis pass constantly and it is quite close to a major bus route. Should stress however, that the hotel is not top of the range luxury but it certainly is clean, comfortable and well located. Les mer

beds are much too hard for 'normal' travellers. only countryside people would appreciate the hard beds. temporary arrangements for lobby restoration were poor

A well located small hotel with good service - stayed twice during a recent trip to shanghai the first time we got upgraded to Grand Room which was very spacious, the second stay not so lucky and the room was clean and modern but a little small. No breakfast facilities but highly recommend the excellent Waggas right next door - well worth checking out […] Spicy Joint and Element Fresh if you are looking for other good places to eat. Les mer

have stayed here before, but in the big house, where it is more historic, but the room was larger for the $ in the annex. glad of the small gym. a little too far from the subway for lugging suitcases, but still well sited.

１０年近く、毎年上海蟹の季節に上海の周辺巡りをする際の基地です。大きなホテルと違って出入りも簡単、 近くにコンビニ・市場や料理店ももあり、庶民生活も感じられる瀟洒なホテルです。

古いホテルの別館であるが、しっかりして必要なサービスは行き届いているが、インターネットの速度が夜大変遅くなるのが欠点。 本館の朝食が利用できる。 直接ホテルで延泊しようと思ったが、かえって割高になり、このサイトを利用したほうがはるかにお得ですが、連絡が遅く、通知がないという理由で予約入れたホテルになかなか入れなかった。

6年ほど前に泊まった時は2人だったのでツインの部屋でしたが、多分改装済みのお部屋だったのか、きれいだったのを覚えていました。なので今回のシングル旅行でも宿泊しようと思ったのですが、私が泊まった7階のお部屋は古く、とても快適とは言えませんでした。 レセプションのサービスも悪く、パスポートを渡してデポジットの処理が終わると無愛想にカードキーを渡すだけで何の説明もありません。おかげで部屋の階数を間違え、最初からエレベータで2往復するハメに。 立地とコストパフォーマンスが良いので、寝るだけで良い、という方にはお薦めです。
