"Fisherman's Lodge"
I booked this because it was very close to my friend's wedding so I wouldn't have to worry about drinking and driving. The location is kind of remote but has direct access to the Intracoastal waterway. I didn't know what to expect when I got there because the grounds was no-nonsense - gravel parking area, no landscaping, tiny front office. Once I got […] in I was pleasantly surprised. The place appears to be family run, friendly and relaxed staff with a nice big homey community room. The rooms are small but recently remodeled. They are clean and bright with nice-sized bathrooms, and has a small refrigerator and microwave. The bed was comfortable and the towels are relatively newer. The rooms however does not have any place to hang clothes except for 2 wall hooks, and no place to lay your suitcase except for a small chair and a small area on the dresser which shares the coffee maker. I think the clientele here are the fishermen and the boaters, hence there is really no need for hanging clothes. One thing I did not like was that there was an eReservation charge that was not mentioned in Hotels.com, and it will appear on your bill. All in all my experience here was not bad. Les mer
"No nonsense motel"
I stayed in a room with twins beds and that was fine because I was there for an art show and by myself. The room had the bare necessities and was clean. I asked for a reading lamp and was kindly provided one. The place is kind of in the middle of nowhere and is at least 8 miles from Beaufort. and 10 miles from Morehead City. "They're not quite there yet"
There are signs of major recent improvements, but they are not there yet. The surroundings are very unattractive. Maybe for a real fisherman, they're fine, but the "waterfront" is ugly for those of us who want to look out on the water. The shower stall may have been clean in reality, but it LOOKED terrible... stained and ugly. I have to admit to having […] showered in my flip flops.
