"Wonderful!"
The hotel was very nice. The staff was extremely courteous. The free shuttle to dinner and back was unexpected, but really appreciated (it was drizzling). I don't know if our room was typical, but it had lots of space and I wish I could have stayed longer. The fitness center appeared to be adequate, but the pool was small and I didn't see a hot tub […] :-( Good location, easy to get to, and easy access to other venues using the skywalk. Very Nice! "Great hotel, bad breakfast"
The hotel staff was very welcoming and our hotel room was great. We booked this hotel as it listed that it also included breakfast. The options were very disappointing. If you wanted something warm, like eggs, you had to pay extra.
"For business, not weekend play"
learned that the hyatt place is more geared towards business folks. We wanted a whirlpool, bar & restaurant. Expensive for what we got. Photos I thought were decieving since it makes the "bar" look a lot bigger. Only 4-5 chairs at a counter. Bedding was fantastic. The hotel reminded me of the art hotels in Europe; clean lines, uncluttered, nice colors, attention to detail. Breakfast good and you had the option to pay extra for special request--$2.50 for scrambled eggs--a deal. Very good rates on short notice. Five minute walk to Iowa Events Center via the Sky Walk. Extremely nice, clean, comfortable rooms. Very friendly and helpful exployees. We'll book again!

Hotel was clean. Staff very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Room size was roomy and airy with windows that open if you chose. Location very good if attending events in or near downtown. Hotel has shuttle that will drive you to local events or resturants, just arrange with front desk. Only negatives were breakfast could use additional selections. Parking […] is challenging if you stay on week days. Garage parking availabe at $15.00/day. week ends parking is available on city streets at parking meters. I used to work in the Liberty building when it was American Mutual Life Insurance and I couldn't imagine they could turn that office building into a nice hotel. They did. I had to look in the stairwell and see the old stairs to be sure I was in the same building. Very nice appointments, modern decor, great continental breakfast and friendly, helpful […] staff. "Hotel Hyatt Place in Downtown Des Moines"
Hotel was very clean and neat. Beds comfortable and bathroom roomy. Only complaint would be the breakfast. Not great, only marginal. Coffee was terrible. Tasted like old dirty socks had been brewed instead of coffee. Yuck. Breakfast selection was bleak.

"Very pleasantly surprised"
As a lifelong business traveler and Marriott customer, I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I booked this hotel for a one night stay during the recent Republican debate. To my absolute delight, the hotel was absolutely wonderful - much more than I ever expected. The staff went out of its way to serve us and make sure that every need was met. I stay in Des Moines about 3 times per year. I was very pleased by the location of Hyatt Place. It is next door to the convention center and just a hop, skip, and jump from restaurants on Court Street. My room was one of the most spacious I've ever seen. We've stayed in most downtown Des Moines hotels and were pleasantly suprised by the Hyatt Place over our two night stay last visit. The level of service was wonderful. The location was convenient. The size and amenities of our room was perfect. The hotel is almost new and features all the comforts of larger/more expensive options hotels (breakfast, […] wi-fi, room service, local shuttle service,pool/fitness, etc). Street parking is free after 6pm Friday through Sunday. Otherwise, valet parking at 15.00/daily is an option. Les mer
"warm friendly service"
We checked into the hotel,planning to go to a concert. Service was wonderful..The shuttle guy was willing to take us where we needed to go. He even had suggestions of where not to go.He said shuttle service went till about 10:50, but he would wait till 11pm, in case the concert was done, and we needed a ride. They were so friendly.. "HyVee Traithlon- great location"
We loved this hotel and the staff. They were very helpful. The valet staff was excellent. Post race, HyVee did not have the shuttle buses back to the start of the race course, so I went back to the hotel to shower up and they gave us a ride to the start to pick up my car and bike. They were able to recommend a great restaurant and shuttled us over to […] it and picked us up. The room was very comfortable. They had good pillows- not flat. The room had plenty of space for my bike, all my gear and everyone elses luggage. The location is right up the block from the convention center and about a mile walk from the finish line- straight down Grand or Locust. I would definately recommend this hotel. "Hyatt Place Downtow Des Moines - New"
Nice - new - I would stay there again. The only downside is that they charge you $15 per night for parking and it's valet, so also a tip on top of the $15. It seems a little high for Des Monies, Iowa. Convenient location.

Excellent rooms and service. Breakfast has limited selection. Note that parking is extra on weekdays, but on weekends streetside parking is free!

The staff were trained in human services. They knew how to take care of their customers. The hotel was very clean and comfortable.
Everything was great except for the fact that we were guanteed two rooms with two queen beds and ended up with two rooms with a king bed and a single pull out bed. This would have been fine if we did not have four people in one room and five in the other. Everything else about the hotel was great.

I spent a night at this hotel last week. It was clean, convienent and the staff was very friendly. I loved the Free Wifi and ended up using the hotel in between my various meetings. Breakfast was a little sparse, but enough to start the day with. The staff really seemed to care about the guests and they were very responsive.
"Perfect Stay for the Dam to Dam."
We had a great stay at the downtown Des Moines Hyatt! The rooms were clean and modern. All of the hyatt hotels are filled with this wonderful scent called "awake" .the gym was great with extra treadmills looking onto the downtown streets of Des Moines. The bar/starbucks was quaint, but carried everything we wnted for coffee and cocktails. The continental […] breakfast was delicious. The hotel staff went above and beyond for anything we needed, Especially the Gallery host/manager Wanda. We look forward to staying here again the next time we have a function in Des Moines, IA. The ONLY downside to our stay was not any fault of the hotel, but of the city of Des Moines. I have never been to a downtown that didnt have a Walgreens/Rite Aid/ Target within walking distance of anything. Downtown Des Moines has nothing like that. Thank Goodness the Hyatt downtown is there with a Starbucks and extra conditioner:) Les mer

"Nice Rooms - Poor Service"
The rooms were very nice, clean, and comfortable. It was an executive stay at a reasonable cost. However, service was lacking. The front desk was not helpful and the breakfast staff was short and testy. Even the valet greated me was unfriendly. The first floor check-in area had a very professional, snobby feel. "Quick stay"
We were only in the room for about 8 hours total. We attended a seminar in the late afternoon which was accessible by the skywalk system. We also went out in the Court Avenue District later that night. That was all accessed by taking the skywalk as well. The only ill experience we had was at the breakfast.
