i would just like to warn anyone that likes an early bedtime to not stay on the 4th floor...due to the entertainment and restaurant/bar on the 5th floor.....the place is amazing though....i have already scheduled my next stay there

This is a very pretty, relatively new hotel, across the street from the ocean (there really is no beach there). While the furnishings are not exactly my taste, they are attractive, well kept and well coordinated, Our room (really a suite) was very large, nicely furnished and very comfortable. Plenty of dresser and closet space, two baths, even a refrigerator […] and microwave (neither of which we generally use). The restaurant on the roof is good, but not great.The beach and other restaurants are only minutes away by car. What was really outstanding was the staff, all of whom that we met were super friendly and helpful. All in all, a place we would likely return to on another visit to St. Simons Island. Les mer

Great place to stay. Very large suites and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Roof top bar and restaurant are a bit pricey, but food was excellent and the bartender, Jason. gave an honest pour for the $$. Parking is a bit of a challenge in the garage, small space.

Very nice boutique hotel. Lobby service, garage attendants, cleaning service all outstanding. The restaurant is not at the same level as the rest of the hotel. I'm sure it's hard to provide the same level of service at the restaurant given that is only has 30+ room hotel and probably doesn't get that much business. We did dinner and breakfast once and […] didn't go back. Given the clientele the wine list needs a big upgrade. Make sure you ask about the view from your room. This hotel was a wonderful surprise...it exceeded all our expectations in every way. The suites were so well equipped with every convenience, the staff were so friendly and helpful and the accomodations were superb. The breakfasts are great...what a lovely way to begin the day. If you are going to St. Simons to spend time on the beach, the Ocean Lodge is not really the best spot. They do have public beach access, but when the tide is high, there isn't a beach at all. It was that way the three days I was there. In addition, when it stated there was a pool, I didn't imagine a pool the size of a kiddie outdoor pool. The deck […] was also small and only two lounge chairs were available. There was also a wedding there so the restaurant was closed and we didn't get to eat there. The breakfast servers were friendly but never brought the correct meal at one time - it was always in piece mill. They do have free use of beach cruiser bikes and beach chairs, but as I stated earlier - no beach - no need to use the chair. All in all the rooms were large and nice and the location isn't bad if you are going to be heading to the downtown area. Les mer

Very beautiful and nice, like a luxury 1 bedroom apt. Wonderful terrace. Good restaurant on 5th floor with one of best views of the ocean from here. You need to know that it is not true ocean front, and you have to be on the 4 th or 5 th floor for a good view from your room. Great location, great staff, fabulous food and wonderful rooms. No expense on detail as this is a MUST for anyone looking to get away....there is not better place to visit or stay. So much to do in St Simon and surrounding area.

Expensive, but in this case it was true that you get what you pay for. Excellent room, quality throughout. Across the street from the ocean, with wonderful views. Restaurant on the fifth floor is possibly the only negative during our visit. It was expensive, of medium quality, a limited selection, and service was at best a bit muddled and slow. This hotel belongs in a different city. The decor in the room looks way out of place for a hotel at the beach, it was odd, big huge pieces of wooden furniture. Staff was extremely nice but don't expect a view of much, very slim view of water. Also, this section of beach at St. Simons at high tide is non existent. We loved this place! Restaraunt was wonderful! Only suggestion is to request a room that is not on 4thbloor under restaraunt as they move furniture every morning about 7:30 , noisy! Love the full ktchen, verandah, keurig coffee maker!

From start to finish, hands down, this is one of the loveliest hotels we've ever had the pleasure of staying in, and that is saying something b/c we've stayed in hotels all over the world! The Ocean Lodge tops The Cloister! We enjoyed it so much we reserved a room for our trip back from Florida. We hadn't planned to stop, but it was just that outstanding! Let's just say I have never had customer service,from the front desk to the owner of the hotel, like this before. They accommodated every need from the restaurant to getting me on a golf course that was totally private. I can't say enough. We were really pleased with the comforts this hotel had to offer. The made to order breakfast was amazing and all the staff were super helpful and seemed to really like their jobs! Having two bathrooms was great for a gathering of women and the bed was amazingly comfortable. It was more like a condo than a hotel room. Felt like a bed and breakfast with […] its cozy size. The roof top bar was really nice but not crowded at all when we were there. I would highly recommend this hotel for a romantic weekend away or with friends. From the advertising I assumed wrongly that personal service would be given to your requests. Ours were ignored. When selecting a location to celebrate your 27 anniversary and pay the amount we did, I feel a much higher level of service and quality are to be expected. This includes bad experiences with the front desk, dining and housekeeping.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful. The staff was very attentive and remembered our names throughout the stay. Our room had a spectacular view and was surrounded by water on three sides. I highly recommend eating at the hotel because the quality of food is much better than what you would find in the area. I look forward to my next stay at the ocean […] lodge. Les mer
