Valtellina - Como

Great location if you are coming in and leaving by train. We came in from Switzerland, walked across the border and stayed one night, then walked across the border again and took the train to Milan. It was excellent for this. After reading what others wrote, we decided on the attic room with private bath. It was clean small and the bed was softer than […] we like, but all-in-all, for the price, it was good. Staff was nice and as it was a rainy night we ate in at the hotel restaurant .... very nice meal and reasonable. All was cooked to order.Would give it a 3.5 if that was an option. Les mer

Do not be put off by other reviews. The proprietors at this small establishment (Elio & his partner) are super nice. The food in the restaurant is excellent. Rooms are small but very clean and fairly well furnished. If you want to go to Lago di Como you need only take the #1 bus there and back (20 mins each way). For the price it cannot be beat! The room was specified as "in the attic" - in fact, it was a windowless chamber, with only a small roof hatch for fresh air. In contrast to the hotel description, there was no 'individual air conditioning' at all, the room only had an old central heating radiator, which was off. There was no telephone, and no room safe, as claimed. The hotel does […] not have any parking space at all, not to speak about free parking in the description, the next public car parks in the village need a 10 minute walk, and are only free at night until 8 am next morning. While sheets and shower were clean, there was lots of dust on the wardrobe, in the corners and on all skirting boards and cable channels. Old paint cracking at the walls, cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. The room with 2 beds had only 1 chair - which was broken and near collapse - and no table at all. (Next morning I saw that other rooms on the same floor had large tables - so the furniture is collected from left-overs). There was no 24h reception, that desk was in the restaurant underneath which closes in the evening. I was handed a key for the external side door for access. However that provides a serious fire trap. The door is also locked from the inside, requiring the key. I only learnt next morning, that there was also a hidden electric door release switch, a meter away around some furniture, among the light switches and without any Exit-label or instructions. It was impossible to find for anybody not instructed. The receptionist next morning was not able to get his manager on the phone to talk about the issues. Don't expect much, cheapest around, Breakfast awful. Did have Wifi though. cannot really walk to the lakes, need car or bike.

When we arrived we were very disappointed with the neighbourhood and also the condition of the hotel outside. We were told that there is free parking but they sould say it is only from midnight because all the parking is occupied by people working in the visinity. My beds mattres was a mess but that was replaced immeditely. There were no chairs to sit […] on and very little space to move around but quite clean. We will not stay in that area ever again and we have been to Lake Como on numerous occations. Les mer

Convenient location in between Lake Como and Ticino, two minutes' walk from the Swiss border and the Chiasso train station, but a much better price than anything you're likely to find in Switzerland. Local bus to the Lake Como and the heart of the city, seems to run quite frequently. Rooms are simple but comfortable. En general estubo todo bien. El hotel se encuentra a unos kilometros del centro de Como y a 300metros de la frontera con Suiza. Con respecto al hotel tiene un restorant y a mi personalmente me toco dormir en el atico. Durante mi estadia hacia frio y la calefaccion no funcionaba. La stanza era a dir poco squallida, assolutamente non valeva quello che ho pagato. Soltanto il bagno era decente. Nel complesso non ci andrei mai più.

Sauber und gepflegt, freundlicher Service. Kleine, einfache Zimmer, dafür aber günstig. Ist laut, da direkt an der Hauptstrasse. Umgebung nicht schön, dafür kommt man mit dem Bus schnell und einfach ins Zentrum von Como und Chiasso.

Prettig verblijf in dit hotel, erg gastvrij en behulpzaam. Gratis wifi internet. Ontbijt bescheiden, maar wel goed. Kamers op de zolderverdieping hebben gedeeld toilet. Ligging op 4 kilometer van het centrum van Como, aan vrij drukke doorgaande weg. Goede prijs / kwaliteit verhouding.
