Babel Guesthouse - Madrid

I enjoyed my stay at Babel Guesthouse in Madrid - I was just looking for somewhere conveniently located and inexpensive and this provided both. The room wasn't huge, but was big enough for two. The location was really good, near Plaza de España and only 10-15 minutes walk from the very centre - we spent the whole weekend walking around the city, and […] only needed to take the metro to get from the airport and back, and although we are keen on walking around cities I would definitely count this as a central hotel. The area felt safe and was well-lit, and Madrid is buzzing at night, so there are always plenty of people about. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and there is access to a small kitchen where you can make tea, coffee etc on the hob (there was also a microwave, but we didn't use it). The only downside is the shared bathroom - we sometimes had to wait a little bit to use it, as there were about 8 people sharing it in the guesthouse, but it was spacious and clean. We had our own set of keys to the building, flat and our specific room, so we could come and go as we pleased, and there was a member of staff there from about 11am to 11pm, I think. I would recommend this hotel, and I would stay here again were I to return to Madrid. Les mer

The operative word here is Guest House, we where shocked by the poor condition and standard of this establisment. The facilities advertized were there, it did have a mini fridge in the room, it had air conditioning, it did have a tv, But (theres always a but), the room was very, very small with only two bedside cabinets, and a rack on the wall to hang […] your clothers, the fridge was noisy, (we unplugged it), the tv a tiny and cheap affair that because of its location high on the wall was unwatchable with a very dark picture. The air conditioning worked properly. The bathroom sorry, shower room contained a shower cubical, sink, loo and a cupboard with no doors on so you could see all the cleaning products on display, it was cleaned frequently but was sad and run down. The owner/manager was very helpfull and offered the use of a washing machine and kitchen facilities but if felt like you were use the owners own facilities. The office was down a hallway and was occupied most of the time, unfortunately they smoked almost constantly which resulted in the whole place including our room smelling of stale smoke. If you are used to on-suit facilities, tidy rooms with a wardrobe to put your things then this is definately not the place for you. The very worst feature (not under the control of the owner) was the amount of noise in the evening and early hours from the small road at the back of our room, it was impossible to sleep without earplugs,cars travelled at high speed down it all throught the night, it was also traversed by people returning home from the late bars ect and frequently used as a public urinal which we witnessed on several occasions. Avoid at all costs for a few £,s more you can get vastly superior accomadation. Les mer

We chose the Babel Guesthouse because it was very affordable and quite conveniently located to all the major areas in Madrid. We didn't know what to expect, but when we arrived, we were very pleased. Our room was spacious and clean; there was never a wait for the bathroom; and Luciano, the man who runs the hotel, was super nice and accommodating. He […] helped us with directions and recommended a place for dinner -- he even made us coffee in the morning! I would tell anyone going to Madrid to stay here. Les mer

La ubicacion esta en pleno Centro de Madrid, cerca de todos los sitios de interes para el turista, Plaza Mayor, Plaza del Sol, Catedral, Palacio real, Centro Comerciales com El Corte Ingles, Etc....., todo se puede realizar a Pie, e inclusive hasta la Estacion de Atocha que es lo que esta un poco mas retirado ( unas doce cuadras +/-). La atencion EN […] EL ALOJAMIENTO es EXCELENTE, lo unico quer se debe saber ( ya que en la pagina de Hoteles.con NO lo decia), es que las habitaciones son pequeñas, no tiene Placares, y EL BAÑO ES A COMPARTIR entre 3 habitaciones, lo que no quita que siempre se encuentra Limpio y Muy Bien equipado, lo mismo que la cocina.- Les mer

dopo il soggiorno in questo piccolo hotel posso dirvi che in base a pulizia,posizione e disponibilità del mitico proprietario,forse questo è il miglior hotel nel quale io abbia mai soggiornato. vicinissimo al centro di madrid in pratica l'hotel è a 20 passi dalla gran via, a 2 minuti dalla zona dei locali serali, in zona sempre movimentata e controllata. pulizia […] ok,prezzo ok disponibilità doppio ok! il proprietario ci ha aiutato in tutto, davvero tutto! ha reso il nostro soggiorno piacevole e ci ha dato molte dritte, per ogni cosa bastava chiedere e subito ci accontentava! voto 10 pieno,al max troverete le stanze non molto grandi, ma il gioco vale la candela. poi avere questo prezzo in questo punto della città non è affatto facile. babel guesthouse for ever Les mer

Vi fick en lgh i en närliggande byggnad för samma pris, vilket vi tyckte var ok. Mycket prisvärt, kan man ingen spanska kan det dock vara lite besvärligt. Men det gäller nog för de flesta billiga ställen i madrid. Som sagt bra läge och mycket prisvärt om man inte vill spendera mycket pengar.
