We had an amazing 3 night stay at the Brunswick. Excellent breakfast & very friendly, & helpful staff. Very comfortable bed & had 3 very good nights sleep. Very good location & close to all amenities.

Father and son trip

A pretty hotel with pleasant friendly staff. Fabulous views and great location. Our room was a decent size but roasting hot even with the windows open and the fan on. The single beds were comfortable but felt unsteady and as if they’d fall over with any movement. We both had a poor nights sleep. Breakfast was good and included.

Try alternative accommodation in Shanklin.

Dated rooms, unclean carpets, basic necessities missing from the room, no one at checkin, charged like a 4 star stay and basic amenities and hygiene missing from the room. It’s NOT EVEN a 2 STAR Hotel! Pure rip off of the money you pay. Please stay clear. The only good thing was the breakfast. Period.

Nice October break in Shanklin

This hotel is really well located, for both the esplanade and the old town; 5 minutes walk to the esplanade and 6 minutes to the old town where there are a selection of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms. There are incredible sea views and it is on the coastal path. It is easy to reach all attractions on the island by car. The staff are all friendly and helpful, they noticed my wife was having difficulty with mobility at check-in and offered a ground floor room. We ate at the hotel's Horizon restaurant on our first evening, and had a well cooked and presented dish of roast lamb rump with interesting accompaniments, red cabbage, pomme puree, and parsnip crisps. The desserts were also tasty and attractively presented. We had breakfast included. There is a continental selection and you are able to order a good variety of cooked options. Altogether a very enjoyable stay on the island.

Needs an upgrade - do not rely on website informat

Initial impression on arrival outside, reception and bar area good. Staff friendly. However the stairs and bedroom were very scruffy and in need of a total refurbishment. The curtains were not hung properly so light came in very early, bed sheets did not fit. The outdoor pool was half full and full of debris. Whilst there the water was topped up but pool not cleaned. The sauna was out of action due to an incident with a child and the jacuzzi had not worked for a year according to receptionist. This was booked as a birthday treat for my husband. The hotel website and your link described a high end restaurant ‘fine dining experience’ which I hoped to book for a birthday meal. However on arrival the only offering was basic bar meals and no food option on the Monday evening so had to go into local town in the rain to find somewhere to eat. The hotel website is very misleading. If I had known all the above I would not have booked. I did suggest to the receptionist that they need to remove the present description of the hotel as it was not helpful. She replied they have a new website but the only ones I found waxed lyrical about the dining experience.

Although the room was clean and tidy, there were a few problems. 1. The Shower ran hot and cold. Did not maintain a steady temperature. Sometimes went cold and then very hot. 2. There were no bedside table lights and the pull chord light on wall above bed head did not work! You had to get out of bed and turn main light out. ( Not good). 3. There were no USB ports or sockets by the bed to use mobile when in bed. ( Not good at all). 4. Breakfast was very good and service excellent . 5. The Duvet cover only just fitted across the bed and pillows were hard. 6. Lounge area and bar were very comfortable and tidy.

Great hotel

A lovely hotel in a superb location overlooking the sea. The staff went over and above on service, especially at Reception when we had a query and also at breakfast. The breakfast was really nice, with a good selection of cooked options and plenty of juice and other options. We made good use of the indoor and outdoor pool and were really lucky with the weather. We look forward to visiting the Brunswick again!

The hotel location is fantastic; breakfast was excellent, and the staff are very friendly. The swimming pool and sauna room are definitely a value-added. The rooms are bit dated, but we spend most of the times outside.

Money spent on downstairs , bedrooms and bathrooms need updating paintwork very chipped and the furniture, power points not in the places.showers need to have a shelf and asked for rubber mat did not feel safe keep bending down for the toiletries. Beds uncomfortable and asked for a topper I used a duvet the first night. I had a Seaview room and the view was amazing but the price I paid and the state of the room was definitely not worth the price .

Great location for the beach and town. Nice hotel. Staff are friendly but not really efficient. The youngsters dealing with breakfast could really benefit from more training and perhaps supervision. Getting a drink in the evening can be laborious unfortunately. Room was comfortable but walls are thin due to the age of the hotel. Overall pleasant.
