Evergreen Resort

The room still had stuff from the last guest's. A wraper on the floor by the bed a nose ring by the lamp. The free breakfast was some of the worst food we have ever seen. We couldnt eat it. The potato's were so old hard and dried out. The ham was dry, almost ready for jerkey. We had the craps that night into the next day. Food was not good at all.

Our room and overall area was starting to get run down, we used to love Evergreen especially the breakfast. They tried with the breakfast but still really under expectations. Not worth $160 a night anymore

Hotels.com showed a suite on the website but it was just a double room. This was not the fault of the Hotel. The Hotel was fine.

Very nice place! Close to town, ski slopes and trails. Has a beautiful appointed pool area, complete with changing area and bathrooms. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Will deifintely stay again!

Nice clean rooms. Nice staff. Broke down old uncomfortable beds. Water barely dripped out of faucet.

Beautiful views and a clean and quiet room. We come every winter.

It was a good location, rooms were better than expected. My only complaint was that none of the young cleaning staff members were wearing a mask while working around the hotel (with the exception of the front desk clerk and a female staff member who was doing laundry). Very poor and unsafe.

We've stayed here many times. I fully get the Covid changes and they did decent job of compensating with the grab and go breakfasts. However, we did get a room that was saposto sleep 6. Only 1 king bed and a pull out couch. Then the bedding that was in the bag was only a single pillow and top sheet. No over night staff to bring up additional bedding so I needed to go outside and across the parking lot to get additional bedding. Then found out that I could only get one more pillow. There were light bulbs out in the room when we arrived but maintenance did replace them quickly. Biggest complaint: It snowed 6" the night we were there but stopped at 11:00 pm. I got up at 9:00 am to go to Starbucks for coffee and the lot still had not been plowed. I got stuck in the lot along with 3 other cars who were trying to leave. The lot was just starting to be plowed at 10:30 am when we were checking out. This is ridiculous. In northern michigan, it should never take a hotel 10 hours to plow a parking lot after a snow. And under no circumstances should there be several cars stuck in the snow with no one from the hotel there to help. Despite staying there many times before,we will likely look elsewhere next time we come to visit family.

I found two wrappers that were not ours. One upon arrival under the ironing board and then a wrapper left under the edge of the bed from a previous guest. Questioning how well the staff is cleaning, especially during COVID.

You can see evidence of financial trouble or bad management. There are many maintenance issues in and out of the rooms such as, damaged rotting wood, aged carpet, old mattresses, out of date access cards, and dinged up cabinets. The most alarming issue was a paddle lock on one of the main exits. It wasn't locked, but shouldn't even be there. Other issues include a room that just wouldn't get warm. We set the temp to 79 and we're still cold all weekend. Lastly, they are not managing COVID well. For example, they opted not to service the room between our two night stay. That is smart. Leaving the pool open, not smart. Likewise, they only supplied coffee, toilet paper and cups for a one night stay. The front desk staff and Curley's restaurant staff were friendly.
