Menger Hotel

Fabulous! Clean, beautiful hotel!! Walking distance to everywhere. Would definitely return. Highly recommend!

This is an old historic hotel that triumphs its ties to Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. They claim he recruited his a Rough Riders in the Hotel’s Bar. The Hotel is adjacent to the Alamo and affords easy access to the Riverwalk. One negative is the construction in the area. And you better have GPS to find the a hotel because the staff couldn’t direct you there if you were across the street

Stay was amazing! Our only complaint was the valet took 45 mins to get our car on the day of checkout. Understandably there is construction I would think more staff on hand would have helped.

The Hotel has a beautiful Victorian style structure and is in the heart of Downtown San Antonio, literally 20 feet away from the famous Alamo. I understand its a historic structure, but the rooms and restrooms could use some remodeling, other than that even with a spooky scare it was great. My two teenage sons and I stayed for two nights and we were aware of the ghost hauntings, however we didn't see, hear or feel anything unusual until 6 am the day of checkout. While I was sleeping I felt a presence around my bed tapping on it, my two sons were in the other bed. I started calling for my son as I knew I was experiencing sleep paralysis, given that I could not move and it was extremely frightening. One of my sons heard me and thought it was me tapping in the bed trying to scare them, as I was louder calling their names they finally woke me up. Although many may believe this was a dream, how do you explain that my son also heard the tapping on the bed thinking it was me. I did not see anything, I just heard and felt something frightful around me that spooked the living hell out of me. If you are looking to be in a beautiful historic hotel in the center of everything and is not worried about a potential scare then this is place for you.

Hotel was great, staff was amazing, food was great, bar area was great. Wife loved all of it.

Menger is a great old hotel with lots of charm and character, fantastic service, and an unbeatable location. Plumbing (ie. Shower temp and pressure) is inconsistent, but probably just the price of staying in a piece of history.

Beautiful hotel! Stayed here before and it is always a pleasure! Staff is friendly and attentive. Beds are comfy and room cleanliness is top notch. There’s lots to do in this area. It’s a few feet from the Alamo plus much more.
