The Marcel at Gramercy

Hadde fem hyggelige dager i New York. Hotellet har fin beliggenhet. Gangavstand til Empire State Building og Union Square. Mange barer og restauranter i nærheten. Orion og Tivoli er to diners som anbefales. Flott gjestelounge med takterrasse. Gratis kaffe og aviser.

We had an excellent stay! The receptionist upgraded our room and was very sweet and service minded. We are getting married soon and the receptionist sent procecco to our room which was very sweet. Would absolutely stay here again

Perfect location, very good reception service (Isabel), clean and comfortable room. Some noise made by AC. Hope to stay there again.

I travel to this area of Manhattan for work very often and have stayed in many of the surrounding hotels. Staying here has been one of my more disappointing visits. I think they must’ve given me a lemon of a room, because a lot of the photos look really nice online, but mine does NOT look like that. My “window” isn’t really a window, but rather a partially frosted over window (like you’d see in a bathroom over someone’s bathtub), with something leaning on it from the outside! I have no idea what’s out there because it’s not worth figuring out how to keep the curtain raised up. The bathroom is tiny, with dirty feet stains on the bottom of the tub from simply being old (not actually dirt). There’s wallpaper peeling off the wall, the tv is on the wall crooked, and the armoir is a beat up hot mess. It’s like someone took a dirty old hotel room and slapped a cheap reno on it and then asked $350 a night. Not really any amenities either for the $22+ “resort” lol fee. I’m actually still here now, but they were nice enough to put me in a larger-than-the-shoebox room I paid for, so I feel like I can’t complain. But I suppose now I see why they didn’t mind me having the “upgrade” to their lemon. Pros: location and staff are very friendly. But you won’t find me here again on any other stay in the future. We really enjoyed our stay at the Marcel! From the very point of our arrival, we were greeted with smiles and helpful advice and information. Rooms were reasonably good sized for NYC but the lounge upstairs with open-air terrace is really spectacular for such a downtown location. One can get used to retrograde rooms and poor service in NYC based on past experience, but these folks really break the mold. We plan to make the Marcel our regular hotel to stay during visits!
