Silversmith Hotel Chicago Downtown

The hotel itself is nice - stylish interior and clean. The rooms are also spacious and have nice amenities. Services could improve somewhat. In general I will absolutely recommend the hotel because of its rooms and its location inside the loop and close to attractions. The good - Location. Close to everything - Spacious room (high ceiling and in general large rooms) - Iron and iron board in room - Decent coffee maker in room - Top loaded safe The not so good - The shower could be better. The showerhead is fixed to the wall, without a supplementary handheld showerhead, which makes rinsing your private areas unnecessarily cumbersome. It is also not possible to adjust the water pressure, just the hot/cold ratio. You can "adjust" the pressure a bit by changing the spray from a normal shower to a single spray, but in general the shower, although nice looking, was a bit of a disappointment and unfortunately the first thing you experience each day - Housekeeping was pretty on/off (one third of the days we did not get coffee and cups restocked, and one day they forgot to clean the room in its entirety) - The free wifi is free, but not very fast (I measured 40kbp/s at its lowest, which makes even browsing newspapers problematic).

Nice hotel in a historic building on Jeweler’s Row. Perfect location - one block from Michigan Ave and Millennium Park. Two blocks from Daley Plaza. The El is right in front of the hotel. Room was nice. You don’t get much in the way of amenities for the steep $22 a day resort fee.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, the staff was very friendly and helpful.
