Hotels.car should be embarrassed to advertise this
Hotels.ca should be embarrassed to have this listed on their site. The pictures are no where close to what the place looks like. The lobby is sketchy and grungy. I understand using a window for late check in, but it felt very unsafe for me to be outside of the hotel. The person checking us in was more worried about his FaceTime chat with his friends and took long to check in because of that. $50 CASH deposit to be paid, won't hold on the credit card. Lucky I had cash as no warning. Remote for is given to you and you need to bring it back to get your $$. No breakfast or coffee, they say renovations, but no work is being done, it's all just busted walls. Room had an overpowering air freshener, removed it but smell didn't go away. Holes in the wall, no fire detector, removed from ceiling and has paper stuffed in to close. Light near bathroom is an open ceiling. No chain lock S it's been broken. Beds are hard springs. Bathroom looked nasty and in the morning had cockroaches. Toilet paper holder broken. The entire state of the room was deplorable - I did not expect a 5 star, but I also did not expect 0. The front desk guy eventually had a group of friends hanging out on the property- didn't feel safe at all. The couple we travelled with came in our room the next morning and asked "does your room look like a homicide scene too?" I'm ok with no frills hotels just to lay our head and sleep, this was not acceptable.
