U Hotel Fifth Avenue

Not as advertised: Description states safe in room - there are no safes in any room - confirmed with hotel staff. Pictures of room misleading, there is literally nothing else to the room; they must have taken the picture from the hallway. You hear EVERYTHING from every other room - do not expect privacy and brink ear plugs. I get no-frills hotels, but I was further shocked by no closet to hang clothes. There were a few decorative hooks that I used, but this was not cool. Ok location - long block walk to subway. Starbucks in the building. Bed was very comfortable. Like that they use fitted sheets. Likely will not stay here again unless it is my absolute last choice.

Had to cancel stay prematurely due to outside noise which resulted in a complete lack of sleep. For a hotel situated on Fifth Avenue, the windows were not insulated to shut out outdoor sound. It was like having the city inside the room with us. Spoke to the office clerk who said that's what to expect being in a city and suggested the use of ear plugs. Unfortunately ear plugs didn't work either. So once we left we attempted to get a refund to which the hotel management refused. I'm aware that it was a non refundable payment, however this was an awful experience which was not our fault. The hotel should be prepared for this, especially with the high cost of a room. Was a bad start to our trip to New York which we had looked forward to a lot. Very disappointed indeed.

I arrived and was told I had to pay an additional $150 that would be returned in 10 days to 3 weeks. The one elevator took 15 minutes to come. The room was tiny and unattractive. No bathtub, no closet, no refrigerator, noisy and a lamp near the bed that worked erratically

The hotel is in a good location for getting to other things, but the street noise does not die down until the wee hours for the morning and starts up again early. Great place if you are only looking for a place to lay your head. Not much room around the bed.
