Hotel Agan is very centrally located in Sultanahmet, which makes getting around extremely convenient. The area is very touristy, with lots of restaurants, bars and mini markets in the cobbled, pedestrianized streets nearby. I can't stress enough how conveniently located the Agan is.
Checking in was very pleasant – I was arriving rather early (12-ish), and the staff went around hunting for rooms that had been cleaned. In the meantime, I got a map and information about possible activities. After just a very short while, a room was found, and I was guided there by one of the employees. This was a great service.
The room was a very small double. The bed occupied the entire width of a corner, and then there was a cupboard, TV, fridge and the exit door. Curiously, the bathroom was not this cramped. Although being on the fifth floor, there was quite a bit of noise from the streets until late in the night – to be expected in such an area. Unfortunately, the walls and door are very thin, which means you hear everything going on around you in the hotel as well.
Breakfast was Turkish, and not really my favorite. However, there was some choice, albeit almost no cooked food. The coffee, however, was freshly prepared from a machine and tasty.
In all, I enjoyed the stay, but would have wished for a bit less noise and a larger room. The staff, however, did a great job and with the excellent location, I wouldn't mind coming back.
