The Rutland Hotel & Apartments

Our stay was fantastic. We stayed in Room 11 with a castle view and it felt like we were staying in a castle. The room was spacious and the air conditioning worked very well to keep the large space quite comfortable. All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The location is quite close to the royal mile. Be prepared to take the stairs, however, as the lift only goes up to the 2nd floor.

Unit had no AC despite the listing. When asked about it, the hotel bellman became uncomfortable and suggested that perhaps by turning on the heat (which was off) to about 10 degrees Celsius , it would magically provide AC (it didn’t work). I understand that Edinburgh is not a hot city and often does not need AC but the rooms were very humid and stuffy - felt much hotter than the outside temperature. Overall, not very clean, not very nice. No closet in the main bedroom at all. Rod in the middle of the room without hangers provided (bring your own)! No storage space there either/ no drawers of any kind. Not enough towels for a 2 bedroom unit. Definitely nothing special or deserving of excellent rating. Not worth the price. There are much better hotels/residences for the price with better amenities in the area.

Had a beautiful room with view of Princes St and Edinburgh Castle. Spacious room. Cool decor. Only negative was a creaky floor.

Nice place, centrally located, nice room, good facilities, nice breakfast

Hotel very busy so we were upgraded to apartment a few doors down Street. Breakfast took ages to get. Great Location. Short walk through gardens to Hop on Hop off bus station. Royal yacht well worth a visit.
