Our stay at the Alahabana Boutique Hotel in Havana was absolutely fantastic! We stayed for 9 nights in total, and we were sad to leave. The rooms were comfortable and equipped with an in-room refrigerator, a strong AC, and a large, hotel-quality bathroom. There is a rooftop patio where you can have drinks and eat your meals, and the hotel is located in a wonderful, quiet, residential area with a couple of Italian restaurants, the ocean, and a park located within walking distance. Of note, you will need to take taxis very often, which can get expensive, at about $20 each way to Old Havana, but it is worth it to be in a quiet, scenic neighborhood. Also of note, although you are near the sea, you are not near a beach.
What really made the stay special was the people. The boss, Gloria, was friendly and welcoming and ran a tight ship. Angel and Adonis, the guys at the front desk, had excellent English and were always just a phone call away if we got ourselves into trouble. The cleaning girls/cooks Kamila, Nieves, Yeny, and Yenney, were always smiling and courteous and kept the hotel spotless. Lastly, the night desk workers, Frank and Alfredo were attentive and kind. Overall, I can emphatically recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Havana.
