Dreamer's Island

This a true experience - bar/restaurant with a couple of rooms on top, all on a pontoon floating in the harbour (also another structure on an adjacent pontoon called the floating bungalow). Very friendly staff (feels like I have a new family there), food good. Plumbing, electricity, wifi a little primitive but hey - you are in the ocean, not a luxury 5* hotel on land. Sunset on the stern deck - fabulous. On demand boat service to/from land at most respectable times of day. Right offshore from the House of Wonders in downtown Stonetown. I stayed 6 nights and loved every quirky bit of it. If you have an ounce of adventure in your soul, you need to stay here a couple of nights. A completely different experience from the "exclusive" tourist-only resorts dotting the other coasts of Zanzibar.

The hotel is floating in the ocean and you will need a boat to get there. The boat trip is free, but you NEED a Tanzanian sim card and the correct number to call them to come get you. It is not obvious where to meet them and sometimes they do not answer. There is little communication between the owners/upper management and the staff on the "boat". Aside from the provided breakfast, any food orders need to be placed hours in advanced. The staff has a very laid back style that translates into not handling your requests in a timely manner. The facilities are very basic. The shower and toliet are combined and is not really seperated from the room. There are two double rooms that are on the top of the "boat". These rooms are tight and not very private. There is a seperate floating house like place to stay but you will need to either wave the staff down or call to be transported to the mainland or to the "reception" for breakfast. Also, if you are a tall person then you will be ducking your entire stay. If you like a gentle rocking to sleep, unfortunately it will not last with early morning winds and tides that come from the ferry movement.

Værterne var fantastisk søde og det var en stor oplevelse at bo på en husbåd. Intet problem med transport til fastland, da man kunne låne en telefon. Maden var god og fine priser.

Floating Board war gar nicht verfügbar, die Abholung an der Fähre hat nicht geklappt. Die Organisation eines Alternativhotels für die Familie blieb an uns hängen. Hoffentlich erfolgt die Rückerstattung!

Pas de clim et de ventilateur, douche inexistant. Il faut se laver avec un bidon rempli d eau de mer et coupure du courant lorsque les batteries sont à plat. Malgré tout ça, c est une très bonne expérience, le staff est juste fabuleux. A faire une fois dans sa vie

Le personnel était très sympa, accueillant, et à notre écoute. En revanche, il y avait des punaises de lit. Mon conjoint et moi nous sommes tous deux fait piquer ! C'est vraiment dommage parce que l'emplacement est idéal et le personnel au petit soin.

Geweldige locatie zo op het water! Het uitzicht is ook heerlijk. Je ligt vlak bij een werf voor vrachtboten waar je snachts wel wat last van kunt hebben (maar misschien ook niet). Hygiëne is minder tot heel weinig. Alleen zout water beschikbaar (wat ook wel logisch is) maar wel iets om rekening mee te houden met tandenpoetsen, wassen ofzo. Dus elke dag een literfles water vd kust meenemen is aan te raden. Je kunt trouwens ook lekker wat drinken of eten of relaxen op de bankjes/bedjes bij de "hoofdvestiging" van dreamers island. Oh ja het feit dat de kamerhygiene niet geweldig is is op zich logisch (je hebt nu eenmaal geen fatsoenlijk water, het water in de tonnen kan op gaan (geen probleem verder gewoon doorgeven aan personeel en dan wordt dat bijgevuld) Je moer gewoon niet veel verwachten qua hygiëne dan is het heel erg leuk en te gek!

We werden vriendelijk ontvangen en ook nadien werden we niet aan ons lot over gelaten. Ze hielpen ons verder naar onze volgende bestemming. Er was geen lopend water, maar wel een ton met voldoende zeewater ter beschikking. Ik heb ontzettend goed geslapen op de schommelende zee.

Stayed a coupl of nights in the bungalow. It's a nice place but it's important to remember that boat the bungalow and the main bar/restaurant are boats and you are not able to get there's without the help of the staff. During my stay the there were problems with the toilets.
