This is a horrible old property that is being offerred at exuburate prices. It has a motel feel. We tried 3 restaurants and all had horrible food. We ended up going across the street to Ilios for some good food, Luckily we were only there for one night.

The only thing their staff cares is tips, room service staff don’t take the tip even you leave the tip in the room, only accept tip when you give it to them face to face, and next day they will knock your door for room service when you stayed in your room( we want to take a rest),the worst experience is the buffet restaurant, I know guests supposed to tip the waiters, but every meal from breakfast to dinner? Waiters ask your room card and Take it away and only give you back when you finished eating (with the bill), even though you didn’t order anything extra, there’s tip options on the bill, there’s no soda fountain for lunch and dinner buffet, whatever you want for drinks, even water, waiter is asking for you room card and take it away, breakfast buffet, juice are offered at the self serve table, you think you don’t need waiter for drinks, they still ask you for the room card and give you the bill when you finish. Pool bar, if you don’t tip, wait 40 minutes to get your drinks, most importantly, don’t go to the hot tub, my wife and me and kids all get eczema. I am not a cheap guy( tipped around $200 in 5 days ), but took the room card away and forced guests to tip? it’s unacceptable.

Pros: Nice, clean, family friendly resort. Staff is courteous. Rooms are good size with multiple person sleeping options. Great views. Cons: Single specially restaurant on site which requires a reservation and books fast due to limited options. Sister resorts also provide the same dilemma and if you are fortunate enough to obtain a reservation at another property, plan on a three hour commitment due to shuttle service schedules and general meal time frame. Food quality has diminished since previous visit and unless you are dining off the limited buffet, menu ordered food can take a very long time due to the same kitchen being used for restaurant, pool side and room service orders. Beds are like sleeping on plyboard. Very little, if any, night entertainment. Lastly, the resort caters to time share guests and runs a strict Saturday - Saturday room schedule. This means, if you check-in on any day (example: Wednesday) and your stay extends past the upcoming Saturday, they will force you to change rooms on Saturday.

****WARNING**** this is a time share. Do not trust the concierge they are actually sales people trying to get you to go to their “presentation” don’t worry it’s “just information” and “no need to buy” all lies. They will offer you discounts for excursions the hard pressure you to buy the time share. Expedia should put this in the description so people know what’s goi g to happen. Food is ok. Staff is ok. Concierge are liars. Facility is ok. Beach is excellent. Pools are excellent.

We had the most amazing time everything was perfect, Maru was our concierge and she made sure our dinner reservations were made daily. The staff.... everyone was exceptional, especially the waiters at the beach. We were a bit leary about breakfast, but they had whatever you were in the mood for. The Royal Sands Suite and Spa was fantastic! I have been to Cancun before, but this was my first stay here. The staff were excellent and attentive. The cleaniness was off the charts, even in the bathrooms by the pool. The food was great, La Veranda was where we ate everyday, they have so many choices. We only ate dinner at one restaurant, which was good, but the restaurant by the pool was delicious. The setup of the pool connected to the beach was by far the greatest part! The only downfall, they need more night time entertainment. Some type of band or dj at night to keep things going. They had karaoke, which we did and it was fun, however something a little more upbeat would have been nice. Also, pool bar doesn't open until 10:30.
