Residence Inn Minneapolis Downtown at The Depot by Marriott

this hotel was so pleasant and is in a great area by the Mississippi River and very near the Guthrie Theater. I loved the history behind this place. The staff was very helpful. It is also pretty close to the light rail, which can get you around town very easily and quickly.

I felt nickled and dimed. I had to ask about the complimentary breakfast, there was no forthcoming information about that. I also had to ask about parking. Instead of telling me about their paid parking deck and the street parking possibilities, they just told me about the parking deck possibility. I had never been to Minneapolis before, and that type of omission of information is just opportunistic and unwelcoming. The shower rod had fallen out of place in our room and so water got all over the bathroom when I showered, which I toweled up. The indoor pool was freezing. I always stay at a Marriott when I travel, and frequently at a Residence Inn. This one definitely missed a few beats in comparison. I will not stay here again.

It was our first trip to Minneapolis and enjoyed every moment of our one-week stay. From the Guthrie Theater to the wonderful restaurants and brewpubs everything was outstanding. The light rail from MSP to downtown was, with few international exceptions, some best transportation we have ever had.
