Never, in my many years as a traveller and hotel guest, have I had as bad an experience as when checking in. We had booked a "superior" room, but she tried to put us in a downstairs room which, if it is superior, lacks a lot to be desired. Managed to get another room, with a balcony. According to the lady at the desk this one was smaller, but it came across as equal in size and definitely more pleasantly equipped. Had the room not been paid, we would have turned around there and then. The so-called "free" excursion consists of a one way transfer to Murano from where you have to find (and pay for) your way back. Bicycles available at a deposit of €20 each (has to be cash, card not accepted) work well. Breakfast is okay, but extremely crowded when there are travelling groups at the hotel, dinner at restaurant excellent (but you need more than one course as servings are small)
