Sleepless in Albany
In the area working night shift. Clearly had do not disturb sign on our door. In town for multiple nights. Middle of the day the phone rings and I ignore it. I'm trying to sleep. This is followed by knocking at the door. Again I ignore it. I'm trying to sleep. Do not disturb sign clearly visible to whomever is knocking. Then I hear the door open and it is stopped by the secondary lock. Knocking continues. I respond and staff is asking for the type of AC unit in the room. It was apparently quite an emergency that they know the type of AC in the room. If it is so emergent perhaps they should have a list on hand. That night on the way to work stopped at the front desk to bring this issue to their attention. No one was around so stopped by the next morning when I got off work. The person at the desk was not pleasant or apologetic in the least. The person acted put out and said well you've been here several days and we NEEDED the AC info. Yes! I paid for several days hence being there several days... Anyway I could go on and on about how inconvenienced THEY were that we paid to stay at this establishment and sleep but I'll just say this... if you work night shift do NOT stay here. Certainly don't count on the do not disturb sign. They do not adhere to the request. Other than not being able to sleep for my shift that night and the attitude regarding this from the staff, this was an adequate place. Easy to access, clean, free hot breakfast. Food and housekeeping staff very friendly.
