The small single room I rented was probably last refurbished decades ago, but it was nice, clean and tidy. Plenty of hot water in the shower. Standard B&B breakfast (full Scottish, cereals, fruit) - not fantastic ("les saucisses est terrible", as the French couple beside me expressed it, and the coffee is clearly Nescafe), but the hosts go out of their way to give you what you want. Very friendly and hospitable management. You have your own key to the front door and come and leave as you want. Very easy access to city centre with bus stop right by and plenty of buses - make sure you have the exact change (when I was there, 3 pound 20 for an adult day ticket - so not expensive at all).
I had a very nice stay, and recommend this to others. Good value.
