NO POOL - We chose this hotel for the opportunity to spend lazy afternoons by the rooftop pool. No information was given that the whole roofdeck was closed for months for renovation. Thus, no pool, no lazy afternoons. The staff was friendly and helpful, and agreed to move us to a top floor room with amazing views to compensate for the loss. However, it didn't quite do the trick. We considered renting poolside beds on neighbouring Emperador, but at 55 euros per person per day it was a bit steep. Tells something about the value of the service lost for us.
The rooms were great, large, clean and well equipped, just as pictured. Location is smack in the middle of central Madrid, and though it has none of the services and amenities in a regular hotel, it is a very good alternative. Shame about the pool, though. And the greatest shame is that we were not told that ther was no pool available before we booked and arrived, as the rooftop work was clearly ongoing and a planned repair after fire damage.
