There are no latch locks or deadbolts on the door, so I didn’t feel super secure. The bathroom ceiling has black mold. They tried to paint over it rather than fixing it properly. It’s really toxic. The windows face inside to a tacky courtyard. Neighboring guests are really loud, and some smoke cigarettes in the hallway. I requested a nonsmoking room, but my room came with an ashtray. The bed is hard.
Service is awful. I don’t expect people to speak English, but a Ni Hao would be appreciated. Upon check in, I had to fight my way past other customers who thought they could cut in front of me, and the staff member was disorganized and had terrible breath. On check out, I thought things might be getting better, as I greeted the two ladies with No hao and they repeated the same. I was about to head out the door when they called me back suddenly. She spoke into a translation app and showed me some text about the housekeeper not being able to find “facecloths and goblins.” Uh, what? I showed her a picture of a goblin because this was pretty silly, but she waved her hands no. I used my translator to explain that all towels are in the room. One might be on the bed. In the five minutes between me leaving the room and check out, did they really do a towel check? Being accused of stealing is not fun. It made me really insulted.
