Worst hotel experience ever!!!
Not because of the hotel itself, but because the hotel owners TOTAL lack of respect for their guests.
When we were checking out of the Hotel Patritius in Bruges on Sunday morning about 09:30, the hotel owner
said – Oh by the way, the hole of Bruges is completely sealed off, there is not possible to drive in or out of the city until 12:30 at the earliest. Because of some sport event.
We were thinking , this has to be a joke, but despite many desperate attempts to get out of the town, we realized that we had to stay until at least 12:30.
We even tried to get an police escort out of the city, but they were not interested to help us at all. The police told us that they had informed all the hotels inside Bruges
city center a long time ahead, and that it was hotels duty to inform the guests .
So because of the owners of Hotel Patritius total lack of respect of their guests, we missed our ferry by 30minutes from Kiel to Gothenburg at 18:45, despite driving like crazy.
We lost over 500€ on the prepaid ferry ticket including accommodation and food, and we also had to book another hotel in Denmark at 145€, and of course all the extra gas, toll road etc.
As you can imagine, not a happy ending to our trip to Belgium…
I`m very very disappointed how we were treated as guest at Hotel Patritius.
