All in all, it was a good choice quality and pricewise compared to other hotels in Mons. The hotel looked well-kept, the room was large and clean, with decent furnishings. The only minus was the clumpy pillows. However, in the bathroom there was just a simple shower with a simple curtain over a bathtub, which was not quite the standard one could expect, although it otherwise was spacious and clean, with modern amenities. The room was on the top floor, with charming attic-like sloping windows. There was complimentary tea / coffee and biscuits in the room, and the free wi-fi functioned well.
The staff was all in all friendly and helpful. The impression was however marred by one receptionist who refused check out at 12 (the hotel’s standard check out at 11 was ridiculous anyway). Another one next morning allowed it without any discussion. One of the days the room was not cleaned due to the failure to leave before 14 o’clock, and only clean towels were delivered at the door. Strange that they stopped cleaning rooms so early. The breakfast was quite boring, not unlike most hotels in Belgium, with just some basic standard choices. Late risers were not accommodated with sufficient refills, so that one had to enjoy whatever food was left.
The location was perfect. It took just some 5 minutes to the town by foot, and there were several restaurants and cafès in the immediate vicinity. At the same time, it took just some 15 minutes by foot to the central station.
