The condition of the room was terrible, the ceiling was damaged and had tape holding the lining paper up, bath panel rotten, the tile by the bath taps looked like they were about to fall off, and breakfast was offered as a goodie bag, as a takeaway! Such a shame that a hotel so close to the castle was in poor condition,

It is a beautiful old building in an incredible location right over the road from the castle, the staff were wonderful; helpful, polite and professional, I had a standard room which was actually huge! The bed was very comfortable and clean, it is a very short walk away from loads of lovely cafes and is next door to the Ivy. I would absolutely stay here again

The office staff was very nice, and the hotel is in a great location, but unfortunately, the property itself is absolutely disgusting and falling apart. In our suite, the balcony doors were broken open, the heat did not work and required two space heaters to be brought to our room, the beds had springs that could be felt in every direction, the paint was chipping everywhere, and the ceiling was literally falling apart. There was no hot water, it was mildly warm for showers. The conditions were unacceptable and made for a very unpleasant stay. There are also basically no amenities and so with every issue came walking downstairs to alert the front office. Despite the friendly staff and convenient location, this hotel is in desperate need of major repairs and renovations. I would not stay here again or ever recommend to anyone.

Room’s definitely need an upgrade - curtains hanging off rail haven’t been cleaned looked like for years - had to change rooms because water started coming through ceiling which flooded bathroom. Had booked a room with view of castle - changed room, interior still drab and looked as though could do with a deep clean. Nevertheless thought bed was comfortable. Not much on information regarding timings for breakfast and because hotel looked so unclean gave breakfast a miss. No mention of any compensation due to inconvenience of moving rooms and staff didn’t seem to grasp the urgency to resolve the water pouring through the ceiling.

The hotel is fairly easy to find (directly opposite the castle) and checking in was easy. The room was clean , a nice size with a shower/bath combo. There was something going on in the function room but the noise didn't travel and I had a nice quiet room and slept really well. Some minor cosmetic issues with the room but nothing big. Good value for it's location and I would definitely stay again.

This hotel is all about the location. Room was is serious need of a refresh. Bathroom clean and all worked but sink with rubber plug on the side, bath that was heavily scratched and air con that had been replaced with a fan and plug in machine. Carpets worn. However location amazing and fine for us on a 1 night stop and all we need was a good location. Ask the hotel for cap park discount code and book into the QPark before you arrive. Drop bags and then park. A 5 min walk away. If you have a castle view room you get a great view from above of the changing of the guard as they approach the castle
