Get a room in the A building!
The Bristol Hotel is more or less as all the reviews indicate; while the hotel and the service in themselves are nice enough, there is a huge problem with noise in the B building, and the free internet is slow and unsteady (fast internet costs about USD 15 per 24/h). However, if you ask for a room in the A building (where the rooms are smaller than in B, but wonderfully quiet the whole night), and you make do with the slow internet, the hotel does have some pluses: the food is ok (including room service); most of the staff are friendly and helpful, even if some of the receptionists are a bit stiff; the gym is ok; and the Ukranian masseuses in the spa really know what they are doing. While it is no more than a three star hotel in my rating, I keep coming back to the Bristol because it offers good enough comfort for a reasonable price, and there are not that many other hotels in this range in Amman.
