I've stayed in 600+ hotels over the years, and I normally don't write reviews, but this was an experience beyond belief. We booked 5 rooms for 3 nights, as our group was flying in from around the world for a special appearance for a client connected to SXSW. The client suggested a couple hotels to choose from, and we just chose the one closest to their office (this one). We normally read reviews and vet hotels (especially since some of our guys flew 18+ hours to get there), but since the client gave us a pre-approved list, we just went with it.
On entering the parking lot, flashing lights of a police SUV popped up behind me. I stepped out of my rental van, and a couple police officers yelled at me to get back in the car. They came over, ID-ed me, and were soon joined by another police SUV with flashing lights, with more cops.
One officer claimed that I had failed to use my turn signal to enter the lot. Lame excuse, since it was 10 pm, and there was no traffic. Anyway, they insinuated that I was there to buy drugs or pay for sexual services. I calmly explained to them that I was a guest there, that I and my team had flown in from around the world, to perform at an event, and that I just wanted to check in, get to my room, and sleep.
That was just the welcome. Also, briefly: no soap, no shampoo, zero hangers, broken lights, filthiest room I've ever seen, blood on floor, feces on sidewalks, screams and fights all night, every night, brawl in the lobby, gangsters everywhere.
