By far the worst hotel experience. Don't expect anything out of this hotel except a bed. The entire staff from the owner on down to receptionists and restaurant staff make you feel totally unwelcome. When we got to the hotel, the first response from the receptionist was "you're lucky you even got a room". Then the food rationing without telling us and therefore not offering a lower price until I insisted that I wouldn't pay full price for the most expensive sandwich and only get one tiny piece of bread. We were then forced to eat in our room, since the empty restaurant didn't have any tables available. Flights were cancelled left and right, and I would expect that service at this hotel would understand how difficult a situation that put every guest in, and try to be forgiving, compassionate and exceptionally serviceminded to give us one less thing to worry about. Instead we felt like we were in the way when we were in fact paying the white in our eyes to stay there and get absolutely nothing in return except a bed to sleep on, as they believed we should be thankful for. A normal hotel would refund/discount us for the extra night we booked but didn't use. And what kind of airport hotel doesn't offer any assistance to or from the airport? Seems owners/management is milking this hotel for everything trying to provide as little service and goods as possible, and charging blood prices. Definitely reflects the way many other things in Iceland are run. Stay as far away as you can.
