When we came to check in at the hotel, the room wasn't ready for us, even if it was well after the listed check-in time. When we finally got it, the room itself was fine, and larger than expected, but we had to walk through the entire hotel to get to it, and it turned out to be on the opposite side of the lobby. The explanation was that there were originally two hotels that got merged, but why we couldn't access this building from its own entrance, thus cutting down the walking time, was left unexplained. Also, we didn't have to swipe our cards when getting into the elevator, so in theory anyone could have had a party outside our door if they wanted to. Speaking of, the hotel also hosted an enormously loud party on the night of our stay, since it was during the Galway Races. That in itself could have been fine as long as it didn't affect the guests who didn't want to participate, but it was in the lobby of the hotel, and the music was so loud that it could just as well have been outside. Our window faced the entrance of the lobby, so it felt like having a disco in your bedroom. It also lasted until 2 am in the morning, so our hope that it would have to stop around midnight was apparently naive. To be fair, I believe the hotel had tried calling us about this, since I found a missed called from them earlier that day, but when I called back, the person I spoke to didn't know why they had called us. Other than that, the staff was helpful, so they were not the problem.
