The hotel itself is good, nicely located just across the road from Eagle Beach. Bus will bring you downtown in 10 minutes (USD 2,5).
People running the Tulip restaurant was basically the people to see around, also assisting on"hotel matters" if any. Hotel cleaners were also seen.
Besides of this there was a woman in the reception, well hided behind a door. She in person is the reason to my low score on service. She was a type of person that should be doing something else than working in a service business... Unfriendly, clearly demonstrating no interest in the clients but rather wanting any inquiry to finish as soon as possible... She signalises this through her body language in general, not really listening to what is being said, looking elsewhere during the conversation, the rude way she closes communications, e.g., saying "bye bye" when still not finished speaking to her (in the middle of a sentence). She was simply rude, to make this easy...!
People are different. Some fits for repairing cars, some for sitting locked behind doors in an office not in much contact with people, others enjoy people and are suited to work with people. The receptionist is not a kind of person that should work in a hotel, as simple as that...!
(When one clearly dislikes contact with people, and furthermore has no professional "antenna" aiming at as a minimum try to understand the customer and see his/her position, and above all also is rude and "short", it is a mystery how come she has been hired to work at the front desk...)
As this woman's unfriendly attitude was my last experience before I left the hotel this really colors my experience of the hotel in sum. No matter how nice the people at Tulip were, service minded etc, my score is low only due to the front desk lady... Actually perfectly demonstrating how important it is hiring the right personnel in such "customer frontline" positions...
