Nice and friendly staff in a clean and nice hotel with comfortable beds in the heart of the old town of Naples. The hotel is a peaceful oasis in an else not too friendly or safe city. The staff warned me to take off my Seiko watch when going out in the evening, as “someone might mistake it for a Rolex”, and would want to rob me for it. The neighbourhood did not feel too safe in the evenings. It’s a party neighbourhood, with many bars. As for much of Naples, there is a lot of tagging on the walls, and the area and the city is worn down.
If you are primarily visiting Naples to see Pompeii, my advice would be to rather stay in Pompeii, which is a much friendlier city.
Hotel Piazza Bellini is a nice experience in itself – and the neighbourhood did feel safe in day-time, with walking distance to bustling, narrow streets in the old town.
Good, continental breakfast with nice selection of ham, cheeses, juices, cereals and fruits. Italian coffee was made to order. American coffee was available in the buffet.
Wi-Fi was poor in our room (# 510).
Parking is available about 700 m from the hotel. Be aware that this is in a very narrow underground arrangement (it was barely possible to get our large car in), and that in southern Italy bumpers are actually used as exactly that – also by the people parking your car. As in many city parkings in Italy they will move cars around as needed. The car was very dusty after 1,5 days in the garage. The parking cost was 25€/day.
