The location of the hotel is great - right in the middle of Gran Via. It's in an old building, so you have to get the lift up to reception, which is fair enough. The room was decorated nicely and it was clean. Also, they have these cool wall paintings everywhere. The bad stuff - I got into the reception and immediately there was a really strong smell of paint, something I could smell pretty much all over the hotel. As for the room, I literally felt like I was trapped inside of it. There was no opportunity to get any form of view because the blinds were stuck and when they came unstuck I had to face some construction stairs or something which blocked both windows in the room entirely! There was no sunlight in the morning, not even a glimpse. I guess if there wasn't work being done I would've seen a lovely courtyard or something. No minibar/fridge in the room so you can buy water and keep it cold. I called reception for ice, but was told they didn't have any since they don't have a kitchen. Yet they somehow serve breakfast... Way too pricey for the standard which is just OK, but I guess those wall paintings and details like old phones and chairs were expensive. I won't be staying there again.
