I loved this hotel! It was calm and quiet, yet situated in the buzzing heart of the city! The staff was very helpful and nice.
The hotel is situated very near all the sights. It is two minutes from one of the main streets, and easily accessible by foot from the central station. It is literally right around the corner from the historic Ballarò market, which is full of people, food, goods and culture all day, every day. It is also a few minutes walk from more or less all the landmarks of the city, such as the Cathedral, the opera house, the Norman Palace and the catacombs. Bars, restaurants and such are also plentiful.
I read a lot of comments from people saying they didn't feel safe in the area at night (due to the narrow streets and "clientele"). The area has predominantly non-white people in the streets at night, and I can't help feeling that is what made some people uncomfortable. We were two gay men walking there EVERY night, and didn't feel the slightest bit insecure. Not trying to step on any toes here, but I do need to stress this. The area felt very safe. Yes, the city is a bit rough around the edges, but I don't think the people are.
The hotel has a great restaurant! Awesome food. Here is my only negative experience, though. On our last night, we had dinner, and our waiter completely forgot about us for 40 mins. We said we felt it was not OK, to which he just shrugged his shoulders. The rest was really good!
