a beautiful disappointment
Me and my wife lived three nights in Soho House Istanbul together with 4 friends. We chose the hotel based on it`s interior and location. The hotel itself was beautiful with beautiful rooms and buildings. I found it puzzling that they had pictures of a pool on the website and had no pool afterall. nevertheless, the room was beautiful with a good space, an the bathroom was really nice. the style was very well done. the roomservice was also very good. Some noise in nights from music but this was not that bad.
The service though proved extremely disappointing. When ordering drinks and food they time after time could not handle our orders easily, correctly nor effective. Being 6 people in 3 rooms they always just put the drinks we ordered in one of the rooms. when asking to divide the check they seemed not to understand or care. it ended up the 6 of us sitting with the room bills trying to figure out where drinks was placed. We were billed for the same drinks multiple times. Though helpful service in the lobby, we had to figure it out ourselves and ended up just paying because it was too much of a mess. We probably all payed too much, but we could never know because of the system. I have never seen this kind of a system in any hotel all over the world.
Often, they also handled our orders wrong. for example i ordered a salad without nuts because of allergies - and ended up getting a bowl of nuts without any salad. We tried to pay for two beers and instead got two more beers. q
