Good hotel for family holiday
We visited Miyako in august and our primary goal was snorkling. The hotel is located right by the ocean with a its own small beach, where you can just swim or try simple snorkling which is also fun. We lived in annex building where the room size was quite OK for Japanese standards with kitchen facilities and washing machine.
The hotel is a part og larger resort with beaches and golf facilities. You can use shuttle bus to reach other locations. The hotel is located in isolated place but around the area there are 4-5 restaurants where you can eat. To reach the town you can take a taxi which would cost you 50USD round trip. If you want to go to the best snorkling beach on the island you can also take taxi, the price for round trip would be around 70USD. You can also rent a car, but we did not dare to drive in Japan as we come from a right side driving country. You can also rent bicycles at the hotel for 25USD per three hours.
This is a very Japanese resort. The personell at the hotel was friendly and eager to help, they did not speak good English though, so it was to times a bit challenging to communicate.
All in all I think the hotel was a bit too pricy for its standard, but nevertheless we enjoyed very much our stay at Miyako!
