The hotel: Very new, very modern, very nice design. Rooms facing east (with morning sun) may be more noisy than rooms facing west (afternoon sun) due to the proximity to the Patak Road.
The rooms: I stayed on the ground floor, with direct pool access. These rooms have a bigger balcony than the rooms on floors above, and it was nice to sit outside in the evening as the sun set. The room had very very firm beds - too firm for my liking, although this is not unusual in Asia. The room also had cable TV, but as far as I could see there were only local TV stations (that may have changed since then - I was there just after the hotel opened). The room also had a kettle, free tea and instant coffee, and a convenient fridge with two free bottles of water every day. The bathroom was nice and modern, with a comfortable shower. If it was not for the very hard bed, I would have been extremely happy with my room.
The local area: A two-three minute walk will bring you to areas with lots of restaurants. The walk to the beach is a good 15 minutes. On Patak Road immediately outside the hotel there are plenty of convenience stores, small inexpensive restaurants, a post office very close by, banks, 7-eleven. I would recommend hiring a motorbike to get around.
I did not try the hotel breakfast.
