We recently spent a few days at Sarai Resort & Spa in Siem Reap. Overall, our stay was pleasant, but there were some aspects we would have expected more.
The breakfast was okay, with a decent variety and quality of offerings. However, specialty coffees from the beautiful espresso machine came at an extra cost. At a 5-star hotel, we would have expected these to be included with breakfast. Additionally, the pastries did not meet our taste expectations.
The room were good and comfortable, but nothing exceptional. A little downside was that the room couldn't be completely darkened, which caused us to wake up early due to the incoming light.
The spa and massage services, however, were excellent and a real highlight of our stay. The spa staff was very professional, and the treatments were incredibly relaxing.
The hotel staff was generally very friendly and helpful. However, in the restaurant and breakfast areas, the service was not proactive. We often had to seek attention rather than being attended to promptly.
The pool area looks beautiful at first glance. Unfortunately, the loungers' frames were rusty, and the white cushions weree dirty, which detracted from the overall experience.
In summary, we would rate the hotel 3.5 out of 5 stars. For a 5-star hotel, and despite the affordable price, the overall performance was somewhat lacking.
