Horrible experience
We stayed at Asia Resort last year for 3 weeks, and were very happy. The rooms are very basic, but cheap and perfect if you're coming to Koh Tao and not planning on staying in your room all day. The location is great too - in Sairee where everything happens, but still in a more quiet spot so you can get some uninterrupted sleep.
This year we ended up checking out early and getting a different place, because we just really could not stand even one more night in our room...
We got put on the first floor. The room was dark with only one window, and as we opened the door the smell of humidity and mould hit us hard. As we entered the bathroom we discovered that the roof had a lot of mould on it, and anything we had in our room was always feeling damp and smelled mouldy. We soon also discovered that the toilet didn't flush. We talked to the staff multiple times, but changing rooms was out of the question. They came to fix the toilet multiple times, without ever really fixing it as the problem kept reoccurnig. Ended up checking out and moving to a different place as we were miserable.
I do have to say though - last year we were staying on the second floor in the same type of room, and we were very happy. Did not have any of the problems we experienced this time around. Will however most likely never stay at Asia Resort again, as I'm not risking getting a moldy room and bad service for my money.
