In China there is typically two kinds of hotels, Western and Chinese. This hotel is a typical high-quality Chinese hotel. Impressive lobby, OK rooms, but all feels "hard" and impersonal. Don't get the "home" feeling that you often get on 4-5 star western hotels. Clients are 99% Chinese, bed is super-hard, no safe in the room. Hotel is supposed to give that luxury feeling, and it all looks good and new, but it's not a place I felt "home" at.
On the positive side, the hotel is close to everything, by taxi (5-10 min with a taxi takes you everywhere in the center of Guangzhou). Good selections of Chinese and western food at breakfast. Free WIFI. Everybody speaks English. Clean.
If you don't mind the "hard" and "cold" Chinese feeling, this hotel is good. If you like a place that feels more relaxing and "home" on your business trip, I would have chosen a western hotel (which I will do next time).
