The place is very large and has many guests. It is however very cramped during breakfast and difficult to find a seat. However, the breakfast is very good. The only thing missing is juice. I would prefer to increase the price with a half euro and get some juice also.
The location is great. Walking distance to the centre (30 min). Also the supermarket on the bottom floor is inexpensive and has lots of choice. It allows you to cook in their kitchen for low price. If you want ready food, across the street is the best Kebab in Helsinki. The Kebab roll of King Kebab is huge and excellent tasting.
The only bad thing with this place are the doors. They actually have mounted automatic closer and dampers on the doors, but unbelievable enough they are set to SLAM! What is even more astonishing is that they have mounted mirrors on both sides of the doors that are slamming very loud, and these mirrors are loose/not fixed. So when the door slams, all wall will vibrate and the mirrors will exaggerate the sounds. The designer of this place has done an awful job with this.
Therefore, it is very well worth the money if you choose to stay in a smaller dormitory. Imagine if there are 18 beds inside, and everyone will go to bathroom, and then to breakfast and then pick something up in the locker and go out in a time span of 3 hours. Only that will be 90 slams in 180 minutes, but in reality some people walk in and out more. So don't expect to sleep in if you have a bed close to the door.
