Sleepless night in an unfriendly/uninviting place
checked in to stay for five nights but left after just one. I paid a little extra for the “deluxe” capsule, although I think I would’ve been better off with the cheaper one. The deluxe ones aren’t actually capsules but Ryokan style, meaning the roofs of each one are open. As the corridor lights are on 24/7 this means that the rooms are flooded with light (see the attached photo). Also because of the open roofs you hear every little noise, and I was woken up at 3am by a girl telling off two other girls for whispering. In general the place has a very unfriendly vibe, nobody said hello or spoke a single word to me when I was there, and in your capsule you’re not allowed to talk, drink or eat and your phone has to be on silent mode. The deluxe capsules have a TV you can watch, in all Japanese channels with your headphones on. You will have a better time at a low-rate hostel than you will here, and unless you bring earplugs and a sleep mask you won’t even get a decent nights sleep
