We had a pleasant, albeit brief, stay at Bozanso. It’s an absolutely beautiful area off the beaten track. We came in search of the snow monkeys, who didn’t want to come out on the day we visited the park, unfortunately.
The man who checked us in was incredibly helpful and even gave us a lift to the snow monkey park in the morning (plus a voucher that covered most of our taxi fare later).
The hotel was very empty while we were there, and we weren’t staying long enough to take advantage of all the amenities. The common area has table tennis, foosball, a DJ booth, anime and manga, a bar, and a free-to-use kitchen. We did not use the public onsen because we are heavily tattooed, so I can’t comment on it. Sadly, their restaurant was not available during our stay. We ate at Fukutora, which was a friendly rustic joint down the street. There’s plenty of good restaurants nearby.
The room itself was huge. Tatami floors and dining table, but a raised bed in a separate room. The bed was not the most comfortable, but much better than a futon. The closet came equipped with plenty of extra pillows and linens. The bathroom was well stocked with toiletries. The heat pump worked great and there were two portable heaters available (we didn’t need them). It’s definitely a bit dated inside, but it was clean and comfortable. Our only complaint is that it smelled quite musty in the room when we arrived.
Overall, the service was fantastic and we hope to spend a longer stay here soon!
