Amazing service and lovely rooms
I had initially booked a single room, but then my boyfriend decided to tag along and all we asked for was for him to be allowed to stay in my room with me, for extra charge of course. The lady behind the desk was very keen to help us, and not only did they allow him to stay in my room the first two nights; they moved us to a double room as soon as one was available. Very pleased with the attention the staff paid to us. Both the rooms we stayed in were clean and not lacking in comfort. However, a few points have been taken off because both the rooms we stayed in (especially the single room) were quite hot and badly ventilated. There were fans in both rooms which helped with the heat, but not with the "quality" of the air. There was a pool and a gym which both seemed lovely, but we were more keen on seeing York and its surroundings and therefore did not get the chance to check them out. Free parking was offered, which we were very pleased with. Breakfast was too early for us, as we both like a good lie-in, but judging from the delicious scent filling our room every day, it seemed quite scrumptious. The hotel was a fair walk from the centre of town (about 15-20 minutes), but it was quiet with little traffic. Overall very pleased with our stay at this hotel - Best Western never disappoints.
