We reserved a room for one night to stay close by a friend's 60th birthday party, with every intention of attending. We ended up being affected by hurricane Helene, a natural disaster, completely out of our control. We called Expedia and the hotel directly, but were denied cancelation with a refund. They offered us to reschedule for another day but required us to choose a date immediately or forfeit, in our post hurricane mindset we were unable to make that hasty decision, that was something they could have also been flexible with and allowed us time to decide and to get back to them about. The 60th party was the only reason to stay in a room off the interstate anyway. They kept our money, just despicable.
