Unfortunately, the only thing we can recommend about this hotel is to stay away from it.
When we first arrived, we didn't feel very welcome by the reception staff, as they asked us several times if we had a reservation, even though we had printed out the receipt for booking from hotels.com and given it to them.
Taking copies of our passports is ok, as it is a legal requirement in Egypt. However, why do we need to fill out forms with the passport numbers, and our professions? Professions are rather private, and irrelevant information.
The breakfast was nothing short of a disaster. Taking place in a big noisy dining hall, its crowd and offered buffet resembled more a college dining hall than a five star hotel. There were no fresh vegetables, and there was no cheese. When my girl friend went to get us two cups of coffee, there were no cups left. She was told to "wait just a minute". After waiting 15 such minutes, she gave up. Mind you, this is the first "five star hotel" I've given up trying to get a cup of coffee.
Interestingly, we read a similiar review here on hotels.com written over a year ago, describing the same problem with a lack of coffee cups. How long does it take to get your act together?
The toilets in the reception area were quite dirty and uninviting. As every good hotel manager knows, when the hotel is fully booked, the toilets should be cleaned accordingly often.
The room was ok, except for very hard beds. There was a fat screen tv and an internet cable, which suggests some upgrades might be in order.
Going out, there were no quiet places in the hotel to relax, smoke a shisha and have a cup of tea. The only place serving shisha had a noisy show with a DJ and a contest for dancing kids every night. Wanting to smoke shisha, we were forced to suffer through the noise.
The price for connecting to the WiFi internet is redicilous: 40 pounds pr. hour, pr. device. If we had chosen to stay connected throughout our four day stay, we would simply pay more for Wifi than for the hotel room and "breakfast" itself.
The beach, beach services and the diving center held a high standard.
But take our advice: Go to Four Seasons or something instead.
