NO HAY NINGUNA RED DE CONEXION A LA WEB
Lo peor fue la pobre calidad y la poca diversidad de la comida en general, y lo mejor fue el aire natural y limpio que se respira. Creo que en el hotel hay que mejorar muchas cosas. Por ejemplo, el hecho de no tener la comodidad de conectarme a internet es algo que no se puede entender, ya que en estos dias modernos, ningun hotel debe de prescindir de este servicio. LLeve mi laptop y no la pude usar...!!

Quiet and Beautiful
This resort is away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist driven economy.....it is beautiful and quiet! The staff here are extremely courteous, professional, and truly believe in serving others. My only complaint is the quarters, here I found a terrible mattress, no hot water, and a bath tub that wouldn't drain......BUT.....I didn't find myself in the room very often.....I will return to this resort when I return to the Dominican!

The hotel is good overall but it really needs an upgrade in the rooms. The best thing in my opinion was the food, the drinks in the bar and the animation staff.

Food was horrible. If you want to feel like your eating at a prison mess hall then this is the place for you (since it was like that for breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Good luck trying to get decent alcohol in any of your drinks. Bring your own alcohol. Avoid any excursion since they are just trying to sell you stuff. The only upside was the entertainment and the nice weather.

MAMBO EXPERIENCE
The hotel overall was ok. I do wish the hotel staff told me a few more things about the hotel upon arrival. For example - the shopping strip, scuba and snorkeling from the beach, where the wifi actually worked etc.. Wasn't happy with the buffet, probably the most disapponting about the hotel. The phone did not work in the room. After it rained, which it did often in the morning, the room had this odor. The staff was helpful, friendly, always smiling, that was definitely a positive. One exception- the women in the gift store not so friendly. Entertainment was decent- pool and beach activities, shows at night...You are allowed access to the other two Riu hotels, in walking distance. There is a small strip near the hotel with a few stores and vendors where you can purchase items. Much cheaper than the hotel store in the lobby. Too expensive. As far as the people who stayed there, many families with children, couples, and a handful of groups in their 20s. If your looking for an average hotel, not too expensive in price, all inclusive, you will be happy here.

SpringBreak Trip
The rooms were kept very clean. There was however a musty smell that seemed to worsen at night. Also at night the air conditioning did not cool the room. During the day it worked just fine. The staff was wonderful, had a great time with the entertainment staff. They worked very hard to make the vacation enjoyable. The bartenders were very friendly. My suggestion, they make it worth your while if you tip them. The drinks were fine but at times in need of more alcohol. We had no complaints about the food. One night they had both soft and hard shell taco's one night it was ham another beef. Always a wide range of selection. Did not take any chances drinking any water at dinner. If you ask the waitstaff, they can get you bottled water from the bar. The frig in our room was always stocked with water/soda/beer. The pool at Mambo was the best. Checked out the other two hotels, Merenge had a smaller pool but a nicer less rocky beach. Barcata had a swim up bar. But when we went to check it out there was a group of spring breakers hording the front so we could not even get close to it. The shops were fine to get tee-shirts. Got a Harley Puerto Plata tee-shirt for 10.00 to 12.00 dollars (cheap). The casino was empty, not one person was in there. After seeing that we did not go in. Did the snorlking to Pleasure Island, very nice. Get to take an hour bus ride and see the country side. Puerto Plata has a lot more mountains and foliage then Punta Cana. The trip was fine for the money spent.

Riu Mambo is a nice retreat
I had a wonderful experience at the Riu Mambo hotel. Great food, helpful & friendly staff, perfect location (better than the other 2 hotels connected I thought), and a lovely room with a balcony (which I didn't expect). The only things I didn't like was that the beds were not the most comfortable, cheaper alcohol was used for drinks & the internet is only accessible in the lobby. Otherwise - it was a nice retreat from the everyday.

Horrirble rooms due to BED BUGS! Stay away!
I have stayed at the RIU Cancun, loved it. I was hoping for the same experience with the Riu Mambo, but was disappointed. The rooms of this resort need work. The bed were horrible. They were old and uncomfortable. They put two twin beds together in attempts to make one large one. I woke up every night with back pain. On the 3rd day my girlfriend noticed small itchy, red dots on her body. We thought it was probably due to mosquitoes from the ATV tour the day before however it wasn't. The next day I also noticed itchy, red dots on my body and my girlfriend noticed more on her body. We then new that this was due to bed bugs. I uncovered the mattresses to see if I could see anything and noticed 2 large areas on the front corners of the box spring which had tiny black spots. We called the front desk to inform them. They sent a maid to change the sheets. We decided to go to the pool and noticed we weren't the only ones with red dots on our legs. We went to bed that night hoping that the problem was solved, but it wasn't. The next morning we both noticed more red spots on our body and were itching tremendously. We called the front desk and they said that they would take care of it. We didn't want to waste time waiting for anyone to show up, as it was our last day and we wanted to enjoy it. Upon returning to the room we noticed that the sheets had been changed and a can of bug spray in the bathroom. CHANGING SHEETS DOES NOT GET RID OF BED BUGS ! PS There was very little hot water

Santa Clara
Good vacation. I like this hotel, great for the price and nice that I was allowed to Bachata. Don't bother spending $35 cab-ride to downtown Puerto Plata (just junk souvenirs) for shopping, just shop at Riu Bachata alley. Maybe $2 more but better stuff and you save your precious time. Two guests warned me, but I was stubborn, "going downtown is part of my vacation'. I shold just took a bus for $1 then it is an adventure but $35 cab-ride not worth it. Don't use credit card, extra charge of 10% Use pesos.

Go Rui Mambo in Dom. Rep. : Great Vacation
Overall, i sent my parents to Rui Mambo in Dominican Republic as an anniversary gift from me to them. My parents enjoyed their stay so much, that next year they plan on going back to one of the Riu Resorts in Puerto Plata, Dom. Rep and taking me with them. My parents loved their experience there, the food, the ambiance, and specially the service provided to them, and the friendliness of the staff, which where very attentive. Overall they said they will recommend this hotel to their friends and family in case they also want to go to a resort in Dominican Republic, Puerto Plata.

had problems
have stayed at riu hotels before & this was not up to expectations. we got a few tropical storms and everytime we did, the water run under our door and we would have to mop up the room. we reported it to the front office and all they did was to arrange maint to put towels in front of our door, hmmm we were supposed to meet with an expedia guy the day after we got there to arrange transfers back to the airport but my wife hurt her leg and we missed the meeting. i spent the next 5 days trying to get the front office to contact him so we had the transfer arranged but between the front office not really trying too hard and this guy not bothering to call back, we only settled it the day before we left the hotel itself is fine, the entertainment people did their job well. food was good and the convienience of three resorts in one was good. the bachata resort was a bit upper class or they thought so.

IMPRESSED
THE HOTEL IS BEAUTIFUL THE CHECK-IN STAFF VERY FRIENDLY. WE EVEN 2 HOURS BEFORE CHECK-IN. THE PERSONAL PUT THE TAG AND WE USE THE FACILITIES WHILE PREPARING THE ROOM. THE SWIMMING POOLS, THE RESTAURANT, THE ROOMS ALL CLEAN. I BE WE SURPRISED WHEND I SEE PUBLIC BATHS SUPER-CLEAN. THE HOTEL ROOMS INCLUDES IN DRINKS, SOFT DRINKS AND WATER. THESE WERE VERIFIED EVERY 2 DAYS TO SEE IF ANY DRINK EXTRA NEEDED. THE ENTERTAINMENTS PERSONAL ARE VERY FRIENDLY , THE NIGHT SHOW IS GREAT. ITS WEAKNESS IS THE SMALL AMOUNT OF DISTRACTIONS DURING THE DAY. PEOPLE ARE BORING NEED TO IMPROVE. THIS COULD SEE AS MUCH IN THE MAMBO AND MERENGUE. BUT THEY CAN IMPROVE.

BEST TRIP EVER!!!!!
BEST TRIP EVER!!! Thia was more than i could have ever expected, if you are thinking about going, whether with kids, friends, or as a couple you will have the time of your life. The hotel was beautiful, and very clean. the service was more than nice and helpful and made sure you were having a good time. the food was great and the drinks as well. I AM DEFF GOING BACK!!!

The room had an ill odor of disinfector. The beds were terrible…worst than military bunks --- if you could believe it. The pillows were small and pillowcases were dirty. The one great thing about the hotel was the food. However, the cuisine was more European than Caribbean. "I'm certainly not a fan".

my sister and i had a great time. as soon as we got there we were greeted by the front desk lady she was really nice and send some one to get us bevereages. she explain pretty quickly and clearly about the hotel and gave us our keys. good thing about riu they give u a safe key that only u have the key too is a black box you put things like money and jewerly and even fits a small laptop if you loose key theres a 50 dollar charge for it. rooms are always kept clean and my cleaning lady she was really sweet her name is isabel and i was use to seeing her because she was i guess incharge of the building we were staying in. our minibar was completed and filled every 2nd day. the beds werent the best but we did sleep and the ac was just fine. they provide beach towels so no need to bring ur own.they also have books and magazines even in different launguages. the pool is awesome and clean. the beach was my favorite part because its soo close and its private only ppl that stay in riu use it. as u know u can go and eat drink and watch different entertainment at the 3 hotels mambo,bachata, and merengue. dont go to shops they will rob u blind trust me bring ur own sunscreen they will try to charge you up to 20 for a bottle. food was great we even got to enjoy mexican night it was awesome they had breakfast lunch and dinner i was dissapointed with the desserts the employees would offer to fill your drinks and were always smiling and polite. its a must u wont be dissapointed
