I booked this hotel for a business trip I was talking to VA Beach. We were definitely informed that they were doing winter renovations, but we were also told that just meant the pool had limited hours. That’s fine - we stay in hotels doing reno all the time. The “limited pool hours” are 10am-4pm and to access the pool you need to go outside through the parking lot. In the winter. At the beach. (Yes, it’s freezing when you’re wet). The room itself was very nice - we had a nice ocean view, a lovely balcony, and a small kitchen. What wasn’t lovely was construction with power tools directly above the bedroom at 8am on both mornings. It was almost like they intentionally dropped everything they had, repeatedly. The upper floor construction also drove roaches down into our room, where they took over the leftover food in the fridge. Fun! I tried to get to the front desk because they cancelled the room charge on our business card and used my personal account instead, and between the plastic sheeting, wet cement, and crew taking over the one running elevator it was nearly impossible to get there. The one time I did manage to traverse the abyss, the line was long and the staff looked beyond frazzled. I’m sure this is a lovely hotel in the summer sans construction, but I wouldn’t go back at the summer rate. It’s a great location, on the boardwalk, within walking distance to food and fun - just don’t expect to sleep past 8, get to the pool, or keep anything edible in your room right now.
