Friendly staff and spacious rooms in the centre of Amalfi, just a few steps away from both the main square and the beach. If you are lucky you can have a room with a gorgeous view of the sea. If you are less lucky, as we were, you can end up with a room (room number 59) with a small window in the far end of the room, high up on the wall, offering no view at all. The hotel offered a small discount for the lack of any view.
Our room had a small kitchenette with a good size fridge, but had no utensils for the kitchen to be used.
Cleanliness was OK, but when walking barefoot in the room, much dirt (sand, tiny stones, breadcrumbs) stuck to our feet.
The beds had Tempur-like top mattresses. Comfortable at first, but still felt hard after a night’s sleep.
The bathroom is, as in many hotels in Italy, long and narrow.
The breakfast had a small selection. One ham (tongue) and a kind of cheese were each slice was packed in plastic. One cereal. Coffee was made to order.
The hotel offers valet parking with ½ hour notice before you need the car. The parking was 20 €/day, and is payable to the hotel.
During our stay housekeeping mistakenly took a small cloth of ours, which we had left on the bed. This was not acknowledged by housekeeping. It was a “mistake by me” to leave it in the room. It was not compensated.
Wi-Fi was so-so.
Would we stay there again if visiting Amalfi? Yes, if we could be guaranteed one of the rooms with a view of the sea.
